Improving the standard of living of indigenous women and young girls in Cameroon is one of our major achievements as indigenous women and young girls can now engage freely in decision making both on local, national and international level creating valuable networks around the globe to support their human right campaign. Lelewal workshops on gender issues has been focus on the effective implementation of international human rights instruments defending the rights of indigenous women, as enshrined in the united nation declaration on the rights of indigenous people (UNDRIP) article 22 and 24 which recognizes women having special needs and rights. ILO convention 169 also laid emphases on the respect of the rights of indigenous women. The convention on elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (CEDAW) and the Commission on the status of women (CSW) are also strengthened by our programs and trainings.
